Hello! I am a recent graduate of Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor
of Fine Arts: Music Composition Major.
I am currently working as an Assistant Editor at JMB Post Production in Vancouver, BC.
My passions lie in the film and video Post-Production process: be it editing, sound design, or composing. I enjoy working with
the end product, piecing it together and giving it depth and meaning through sound and music. For me, this is where the
excitement of film story-telling lies.
Editing:
I was introduced to editing at an early age.
With access to my grandfather's editing studio, I would spend days after every vacation
turning typical family vacation footage into Lonely Planet styled travel
documentaries. I began to learn and develop the art of storytelling through selection
and timing.
Since then, I have edited many more videos: for myself, for friends, relatives,
university; in the process becoming familiar with Adobe Premiere, Pinnacle Studio,
Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express, LiveType, Soundtrack, and ProTools, to name a few.
In the summer of 2005, I worked on the reality TV show, Crash Test Mommy. Among
other tasks, one of my responsibilities was to travel with second team and capture
various footage for editing on the go. I would then trim and edit that footage into a
presentable format to be sent back to main unit.
Through this experience, I learned to work under time constraints and within a
constantly changing environment that required continuous problem solving. I would do
it again in a heartbeat.
Since November of 2006, I have been working at JMB Post Production in both video editing
and sound design/recording/editing roles. I primarily use Final Cut Pro HD and ProTools HD,
but have also added Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, DVD Studio Pro, and numerous other smaller
programs to my list of familiar programs. As well, my experiences at JMB Post Production have
given me valuable insight into editor/client realtions and the overall post-production
workflow.
